LAB23 is a Venetian company for urban furniture and outdoor solutions — emerged from Veneta Plastica, founded in Venice (Italy) in 1958, which rapidly became the leading company in plastics processing, particularly in the production of machinery for the chemical and galvanic industry. In 1989 Veneta Plastica developed its first battery container called TUBE in partnership with a major municipal waste management company — the starting point of the reorientation towards urban furniture. In 1996 under new ownership a strategic repositioning took place: the goal of developing innovative, environment-friendly products with a focus on quality, functionality and design. In January 2008, after 50 years under the name Veneta Plastica, the company was renamed LAB23.
Product programme: approximately 200 products for public and private clients — urban benches, bus and car canopies, bins, bollards, planters, bike racks, tree grates. Design characteristics: contemporary design, combination of rigid and soft forms, high-quality and low-maintenance materials. Materials: galvanised steel, stainless steel, corten steel, hardwood. Designer collaborations: Zaha Hadid, Stéphane Chapelet, Roberto Semprini, Massimiliano Fuksas, Karim Rashid.
