Glimakra of Sweden is a Swedish company for acoustically optimised office furniture, sound insulation panels, partition wall systems and interior solutions for public spaces, based in Glimåkra (Municipality of Östra Göinge, Scania/Skåne, southern Sweden). The company was founded in 1948. From its founding until 1998, the manufacture of handlooms was an important part of the business. In the mid-1980s the company increasingly targeted designed interior products for public spaces. Since 2006 Glimakra manufactures custom-made windows for modern villas, apartment buildings and historically valuable buildings. Since 2012 the company produces wall and screen systems in high-pressure decorative laminate (HPL) for shower rooms, laundry rooms and dressing rooms. Many eminent designers have worked for the company in the context of ongoing collaborations. Production takes place entirely in-house in Glimåkra.

Designer collaborations: Bertil Harström, Johan Kauppi (incl. SABINE office storage system). Collections: Build Up, Cero (desk-up screens, whiteboards), Europo (reception desks, partition walls), Limbus, Sabine (office storage — wood, MDF, modular), SiluettFloor, Wakufuru, Wannabetree, Woofer. Product categories: acoustic panels and sound-absorbing surfaces, office storage units, office screens (partition systems), office walls, reception desks, movable walls, HPL wall panel systems (for shower rooms/laundry rooms/dressing rooms), office booths, whiteboards. Materials: wood, veneer, MDF, plywood, fabric, HPL (high-pressure laminate), glass and wood (combination). BIM files available.

For architects and interior designers seeking for office, educational, hospitality and public building projects a Swedish manufacturer that since 1948 in Glimåkra has grown from a handloom tradition into an acoustic office furniture brand, since the mid-1980s has been consistently specialised in acoustically optimised interior solutions for public spaces, and with its entirely internally produced range from acoustic panels through office partition systems, HPL wall systems to reception desks covers all planning requirements of a modern acoustically conscious working environment — Glimakra of Sweden has completed since 1948 in Glimåkra the journey from handloom to acoustic office furniture brand: Bertil Harström and Johan Kauppi as design partners, ScreenIT as a textile pioneer product from 2010, full BIM integration as a contemporary planning tool — acoustics, HPL and wood as an equally weighted material triad.
