Daisalux is a Basque company for safety and emergency lighting, headquartered in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Basque Country, Spain). The company's story begins with José Antonio Fernández de Aróyabe, an unemployed electrician from Vitoria, who after losing his job began manufacturing emergency lights by hand — first at home, then in a small workshop. The idea proved viable, and in 1988 Fernández de Aróyabe decided to formally found Daisalux. Today the founder's sons, Ibai and Diego Fernández de Aróyabe, lead the company. Daisalux is active in over 30 countries and counts among its references the Bilbao Metro, the towers of the former Real Madrid sports city, the Teatro Colón (Royal Theatre) in Buenos Aires, the Treasury Palace of the Province of Valladolid, as well as shopping centres, factory buildings, museums, archaeological sites, hotels and wellness centres. Certifications: ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management).
Product range: emergency luminaires, safety sign luminaires, orientation luminaires and high-power emergency luminaires — all based on LED technology. Selected products: Naos (wall and ceiling luminaire, 25 mm flat, black/white, integratable signage elements), Ziner (ceiling-mounted emergency luminaire, square with rounded corners, white painted aluminium, 4 LEDs with reflectors), Spica and Izar (diameter 20 mm, invisible recessed luminaires for drylining ceilings, luminous coverage up to 5 m floor height), LENS series (cylindrical form, clean lines), Aqua (stainless steel, suitable for wet rooms, flush mounting, LEDs in multiple colours), Ikus (safety sign luminaire system with aluminium profiles, digitally printed pictograms, available as Ikus-B, Ikus-S, Ikus-M and Ikus 2211-R for three-phase track systems), LISU (standalone LED safety luminaire, pendant, ceiling, sign or wall mounting). Proprietary software: DAISA — a calculation programme for the planning and management of emergency lighting systems (compliance with norms and regulations, planning support from floor plan).
For architects and lighting designers who understand emergency lighting not as a disruptive mandatory product but as an integral component of the spatial concept, Daisalux is the most consistent Basque address: with a product range extending from the 20-mm invisible luminaire to high-power emergency lighting, and its own planning software that enables full compliance documentation from floor plan stage.
