Bullfrog is a German furniture company from Michelau im Ofr. (Lichtenfels district, Upper Franconia/Bavaria), producing upholstered furniture for living, sleeping and outdoor spaces. Founder and designer: Kurt Beier. Co-designer: Kati Quinger. CEO: Jan Beier, the founder's son. The brand works closely with local Franconian suppliers — deliberately as a regional value creation model. Philosophy: "Passion for design, for the synthesis of form and function" — and, as Beier himself puts it: "We're a creative lot, a close-knit team that enjoys nothing more than coming up with something new. Innovative, unpretentious, open-minded and stubborn." All furniture is manufactured in Upper Franconia and shipped from there worldwide.
Core indoor range: sofas with manually or motor-operated adjustable elements (KYO — solid wood plateau, adjustable back and armrests, integrated storage panel; Akito — light lounge system with individual configuration; Iwan — seating and lounging elements, combinable in multiple ways; Wumms, Modi, Isola, ROCKfrog). Armchairs and lounge chairs. Upholstered beds: Letto (foldable headrest/backrest), Dodo (plug-in headboard), Loft (cubic form, handcrafted details), Léa (back with quality down upholstery). Outdoor range: OD MAMAMIA table (solid wood or concrete top, matt black steel frame), OD THEKLA upholstered benches, OD CASINO upholstered chairs, OD OLALA high table, ROCKfrog (rocking function, indoor/outdoor), OD GIN armchair. Materials: leather, fabrics (skin-friendly and hardwearing), solid wood (weather-treated), steel, concrete.
For architects and interior designers seeking a German upholstered furniture programme with consistent functional logic, indoor-outdoor competence and Upper Franconian manufacturing depth for demanding residential or hospitality interiors, Bullfrog is the most individual address — with a range that consistently treats sofa design as a technological discipline.
